Nuggets of Knowledge

So you are writing a manuscript. Whether you are just starting, revising and editing, or are ready to submit to agents or editors here are some sites that may be of some use. Some of them are old posts but have valuable information and are worth reading.

Writer K. M. Weiland offers advice on character development and undesirable traits, on her blog Word Play. For more great advice read further down on her site as well an article on giving characters similarly spelled names.

How often have you read about the eye color of a character and thought, yeah right? Check out writer Tracey Neithercott’s blog Words on Paper, where she gives us insight on focusing too much on a character’s eyes, and suggests more creative ways to describe a scene.

Is the traditional plot arc not working for you? How about a “W” arc? Pop over to Kathleen Wall’s blog Write My Fire for an explanation of this different approach that just might make you think twice about your own arcs.

And finally take a look at Plot Whisper’s site for more tips on character development and be sure to check out her 26 You Tube tutorials on plotting a novel.

Hopefully these links finds you at a great place in your process, if not make sure you bookmark them for future reference the way I have. You never know when you’ll need those nuggets of knowledge.
